The Gavia road starts from Bormio (1225 meters), passes through Santa Caterina Valfurva and takes you up to the 2621 meters of the pass.

The climb was the scene of epic images related to cycling, stages of the Giro d'Italia under copious snowfalls.

Every year, in May, the road is open to the public and the snow walls on the sides of the road are truly impressive.

The itinerary, suitable for road bikes, gets decidedly harder after Santa Caterina. The road is sometimes narrow, rough and has only recently been completely paved.

Once in the Roccette area, you can admire the Forni valley, dominated by a vast glacier.

Once you reach Passo Gavia you will see the statue of the "Madonna delle Vette", called to watch over and protect cyclists.
