NOVEMBER 24, 2015 - BORMIO
We have been trying really hard but with deep regret we have to communicate the postponement of the winter opening. The season 2015/2016 of Bormio Ski will officially start from December 5, 2015. The expected opening date - November 28 - fell through contrary to what previously announced (see article).
WHY POSTPONING? - November 28 was the goal for our snowmakers. The first and abundant snowfall of the season on October 16 (70 cm of fresh snow) was very encouraging but the unexpected high temperatures and the lack of snowfalls during November ruined our plans. The snowmaking system turned on at first cold, on November 21, and from then on it has never stopped "bombing" the ski area, with no pause. Unfortunately, though, the awaited and forecasted snowfalls had never come and the work of the snow guns can not be considered sufficient to guarantee and adequate ski-abilty on the ski area in terms of safety and quality of the service.
LIFTS OPEN - All put off then, until next week when the snow conditions will definitely be improved . The lifts open will be 6: the cableway Bormio-Bormio 2000, the chairlift Bormio 2000-Pian dei Larici, the magic carpet Marmotta, the cablecar Bormio 2000-Cima Bianca, the chairlift Bormio 2000-Cimino and the chairlift Valbella-Bormio 3000. Slopes open from Cima Bianca (3,012 m) to Conca Vabella (2,527 m). Open, also, the training camp Marmotta in Bormio 2000 and the Stella Alpina slope - low part (from 2,252 to 1,950 m).
DF SNOW VILLAGE POSTPONED - The long-established appointment Df Snow Village, organized by Df Sport Specialist and scheduled for November 28-29 will be put off on a date yet to be define.
