In Bormio (SO) you can ski all year round, a quality that only a few resorts around the world can claim. Only a month later since the closing of the winter season, usually around mid-April, in Alta Valtellina it's already time to get back on skis. In fact, summer skiing at the Stelvio Pass is on from June to November.
Stelvio Glacier: the widest area on the Alps for summer skiing
Summer skiing at the Stelvio Pass is a great tradition that goes back since the early '30s when the mountain hut Livrio was built and the first courses of alpine skiing and ice climbing were established.
The Stelvio glacier is the ideal place where to learn how to ski or better your technique. Today the ski area offers more 20 km of slopes from the Pass (2,758 m) to Monte Cristallo (3,450 m), 6 lifts ( 2 temporarily closed for renovation) and 2 cross-country ski tracks.
Every summer the best national teams of alpine and cross-country skiing coming from all over Europe and rest of the world come here to prepare their winter season. The high altitude and perfectly white-covered pistes are an extraordinary training camp.
