The long-awaited moment has arrived: the Technical Scientific Committee approved the guidelines proposed by the Italian Regions. Now it’s up to the Government in the Council of Ministers – scheduled for next week – to say the final yes. Finally good news for us operators in the industry and for all the great people of snow enthusiasts. After more than 600 days of forced stop, the ski slopes of Bormio will be open again starting from Saturday 4 December 2021.
The ski season we are about to experience will be marked by the introduction of new ways of behaving to start off safely. We at Bormio Ski will do our utmost to offer you carefree and peaceful holidays in the snow. We want to give you a WOW ski season!
Bormio offers the ultimate summit-to-base ski run in the Alps. We are so excited and can’t wait to find ourselves all together at 3,000 meters above sea level and enjoy the wide open spaces and majestic views.
Below we try to summarize the most significant passages of the safety protocol approved by the Technical Scientific Committee and which will probably be authorized by the Government in the nearest future.
- From 12 years of age to access the ski lifts it is mandatory to be in possession of the Covid-19 green certification. Considering the possibility that the titles of travel are purchased online or through other digital solutions and/or have multi-day validity, the control by the ski area managers on the possession of the green certification can be carried out on a random basis.
- In the orange or red zone, limit the maximum number of daily admissions by introducing a maximum number of tickets that can be sold
- Closed lifts (cablecars, cableways, chairlifts with bubble): maximum capacity to 80% of the vehicle capacity with mandatory use of a mask
- Open lifts (chairlifts without bubble, ski lifts): maximum capacity at 100% of the vehicle’s capacity with mandatory use of a mask to protect the respiratory tract
- Adoption of online booking systems to purchase the ski pass
- Creation of routes to ensure social distancing of 1 meter at the accesses to the ticket offices and boarding lifts
In order to reduce the crowds at the cash desks, we recommend that you purchase your ski pass in advance through the online shop. Purchasing the ski pass before arriving at the tourist destination allows you to have access to discounted rates, avoid queues at the ticket office and directly access the slopes.

The shop provides all age reductions (senior, junior, baby), family discounts (baby free, family plan) and reductions for university students. For the protection of the consumer, the Alta Valtellina Lifts Association has defined the reimbursement policies in the event that the lifts are closed due to government imposition.
Seasonal passes and 10 non-consecutive days: holders of the Alta Valtellina and Bormio Skipass seasonal passes purchased in the current season can withdraw from the contract if the authorities decide to close all lifts for at least 10 consecutive days due to restrictions related to sanitary emergency.
The right of withdrawal, to be requested with the online procedure on our site, strictly within 30 days from the imposed closing date, can be exercised if the holder of the seasonal ski pass has not used at least 40 days of skiing.
Following the request for withdrawal, the seasonal ski pass will no longer be valid and users will be entitled to a refund in% of the price paid and defined as follows:
- within 15/12/2021 85%
- within 31/12/2021 70%
- within 01/15/2022 55%
- within 31/01/2022 40%
- within 15/02/2022 30%
- within 28/02/2022 20%
- within 15/03/2022 10%
- within 03/31/2022 5%
- within 01/04/2022 0%
Holders of the 10-day non-consecutive Bormio Skipass must always exercise the right of withdrawal within 30 days of the closure as ordered by the Authorities and the refund due is calculated by dividing the price paid by 10 and multiplying the result by the days not used.
Multi-day ski passes: holders of Alta Valtellina and Bormio Skipass multi-day ski passes are granted the right of withdrawal both following closure of all lifts imposed by the Authorities and following ascertained positivity to the Sars-CoV-2 virus or following quarantine provision established during the validity period of the card. The refund due is given by the difference between the price paid and the price of the card corresponding to the days used.

The covid-19 emergency requires everyone to take responsibility and it is only by respecting the rules defined in the safety protocol that we can return to enjoy our mountains in a safe and peaceful way.
Essentially there are three rules you must follow:
- Buy your ski pass online or register for a pay per use service
If you can do it, shop in advance (webshop) avoiding crowds at the ticket offices. - Comply with the anti covid-19 rules for your safety and that of others
Always wear a mask in the queue, on the lifts, in the mountain huts. Keep a distance of at least 1 meter from others. - Behave responsibly
The restrictions only work with your cooperation. Thank you!
