Night skiing is a big attraction of several Italian ski resorts yearning to widen their tourist offer. Bormio is a top choice from that point of view since it can offer a beautiful 4-kilometer lightened slope served by a modern lift, the cableway Bormio-Bormio 2000. The lightened run is actually made out of two slopes: the blue one (east) Genziana and the red one (intermediate) Stelvio.
The course has a vertical drop of 727 meters: from Bormio 2000 (1,952 m) to the valley floor (1,225 m). The piste is very much satisfying especially when you hit the Stelvio, worldwide famous slope which has hosted, over the years, 46 World Cup races. Along the ski run you will encounter several mountain huts where to rest and, if you may like, dance.
The next event with the lightened slope in Bormio will be on Thursday February 9 from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Tonight, January 26, 2017, night skiing in Bormio will be back. The slopes Stelvio and Genziana will be available for a wonderul ski run under the stars: 4 km perfectly lightened and usual warm and fun atmosphere within the mountain huts by the slopes.
Night skiing on the Stelvio slope will be back on Thursday January 19, 2017 with the ski run artificially lightened for three hours, from 8:00 to 11:00 pm.
The legendary slope which has hosted 46 World Cup races is in great conditions thanks to the last snowfall which produced about 15 cm of fresh snow at town level.
In Bormio everything is ready to host the “all adrenaline” ski race Peak to Creek at the end of January. The clients of the ski area can finally ski from peak to creek, as we like to say when referring to the opening of the valley run and the possibility to ski, from top to bottom, the whole vertical drop of the mountain.
Since last Saturday people have been skiing on the slope Bosco Basso which made the “vertical fun” of Bormio finally for real. Skiing on a 1,800-meter vertical drop is pure poetry for every ski fan. Dancing on the snow from 3,012 meters to 1,225 meters is a unique experience that you don’t exactly find everywhere.
The new year is behind the corner and Bormio is getting prepared to celebrate with a spectacular torchlight parade on the Stelvio slope followed by the firework show.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow from 5:30 pm at the Ski Stadium on Funivia Street for the great New Year’s Eve Party organized by Bormio Tourism. There will be plenty of music, hot tea and mulled wine to warm everyone’s heart.

APRIL 5, 2016 – BORMIO
On Sunday April 3 the tenth edition of Pozza dei Mat (Pond of Mads) took place in Bormio 2000. The ‘mad’ people were the absolute protagonist of the day showing some great performances at the pond contest.
Pozza dei Mat: the craziest party of the winter!
Over five thousand people reached Bormio 2000 to watch the pond show: a blend of carefreeness, enthusiasm and levity that totally set the whole Bormio Ski on fire for this final season party.
The participants, about one hundred, made some great acrobatics trying to cross the pond of freezing water, using style and creativity.
For the category ‘Challenge‘ we saw a few skiers attempting the pond crossing. Some made it nicely and some totally not For the category ‘Jump‘, instead, the mad people jumped directly into the pond from the kicker. The great finale, as always, was all for the category ‘Mat‘ (mad): some really alternative vehicles made a marvellous appearance. Everyone tried to pass the pool but a just a small few, to be honest, made a pass all the way across the pond. Some lost the pieces, some lost members of the crew but the result was always one: an hilarious and phenomenal show which captivated the attention of the crowd.
After the contest the day continued with a focus on music: a sensational live concert in Bormio 2000 and a dj set at the après skis Bewhite and 30m2.

Pozza dei Mat (in English ‘Pond of Mads) is a great festival on the snow: every year, thousands of people gather in Bormio 2000 to watch an unusual contest, especially for the mountain. Pond of Mads: the craziest party of the winter!

The event Pozza dei Mat was born in 2006 as a carefree festival among friends and this year it will celebrate a great goal: the edition 2016 will, in fact, be the historic tenth.
