500 people for the fourth edition of the Peak to Creek!

Bormio 1-27-13. The fourth edition of Peak to Creek was a big success with the record of about 500 enrollments. So many had challenged the 1800-meter drop of Bormio for an endless ski run that has to be considered one of the toughest among the Alps.

As schedule planned, the paired-up start was from Bormio 3000 (3012 m) all the way down to reach Bormio town (1225 m). In the final part of the track the participants really proved their skiing skiils retracing the technical passages of the DH World Cup especially on the famous cross passage Carcentina and on the jump San Pietro on the Stelvio slope.

At the finish line everyone was saying "yes, I made it!" and that's what Peak to Creek is all about. The greatest accomplishment is the participation at the race, a ski run so long, tiring and tough that even just getting all the way down is equal to a win. Sharing it with your friends makes it special.

The day started in the memory of Marco Ronchi who passed away the previous day after a violent collision with another skier on the slopes of Bormio. Marco was very passionate of sports and had taken part at the Peak to Creek many times in the past. His friends wanted to remember him giving the start of the race and skiing down all together hand in hand.

For the record, the male winner of the fourth edition was Julian Giacomelli while for the female category the best one was Stefania Burba. Julian stopped the timer at 4:24.76 with an average speed of 95 km/h while Stefania completed it in 5:13.15 with an average speed of 80 km/h.

BormioSki and Pozza dei Mat would like to thank Unione Sportiva Bormiese for the precious collaboration and also Bormio City Hall, reparti di Bormio, all the volunteers and sponsors which supported us and made the event possible.

Peak to Creek will be back next year. See you on January 25, 2014!!!!
